What Is Pictionary? And How To Play?
We've put together a complete guide on how to play pictionary here!
Making Pictionary More Child Friendly
Some may find it difficult to adapt a game of Pictionary for kids, especially if there are very young children present. Young children around the age of three may find it particularly difficult to grasp the idea of the game. The best way to target these kids and allow them to have a fun and enjoyable experience in which they can guess too, is to include words or phrases that they will know! This could include their favourite cartoon character, or their favourite book, for example.
Older children may be able to understand the idea of the game much quicker. With this being said, frustration can be present in games with time limits or teams when there are children involved. Certain arguments can arise from moments where the time limit was breached before someone guessed correctly, or opposing teams guessing or giving hints when they are not supposed to. The best way to overcome these challenges is to simply remove both time limits and teams. This will create a free-for-all game, where players go up one at a time and draw something with no time limit. Anyone can guess at any time. If a lot of shouting is present, having players raise their hand before guessing may prove effective! This way, it will ensure maximum fun and enjoyment is had by everyone!

Pictionary: More than a Game
Learning Opportunity
Pictionary is a great learning opportunity for children. It allows them to express their creative side while drawing out any ideas! This can be extremely important in such a technological world. It requires them to use their brain and think of the best way to get their point across.
Discipline can also be improved, as children can realise that they need to follow certain rules in order to be awarded points! For example, not shouting out any answers when it is not their turn will create a more enjoyable game for everyone involved.
Their social skills can additionally be enhanced. Rather than sitting in front of a screen, everyone is on their toes trying to come up with the correct answers to win points. Players quickly forget about trying to act ‘cool’, and only care about participating to the best of their ability! This can improve relationships between players and breakdown any shy barriers that may be present.
Fun for all the Family
Pictionary creates a situation where everyone in the family can be involved. This can result in improved family relationships along with more family fun! In such a technological world, it is easy to lose sight of the importance of family time together. So, put down those phones, turn off the TV, and gather the whole family round for a great game of Pictionary!
